Looking for a Developer with more than just a Four Year Degree?

I have been a professional chef, an on the floor logistics manager, a web admin, a developer, and many other varied and interesting professions.

I am a super-fan of Test Driven Development, and the readability of Clean Code methodology. I find the quality of my work improves dramatically with these philosophies in use!

I am talented and experienced in Python, C#, and Java. I have designed applications using Microservice, Cloud Native, or MVC philosophies. I have experience in basic web design and languages such as Node and ASP.net. I thrive with infrastructure as code development using frameworks such as CDK.

I'm used to working in high pressure, fast paced environments, in detail oriented, group-centric professions having spent more than two decades inside just such locations.

Four Year degree’s are great, and a proof of time spent. They are not however proof of time learned. Quite unfortunately the educational institutions often lag behind even the standard use of tech, still teaching far outdated concepts to students that haven’t been used for years (Java Applets!)

The real world teaches more lessons and varied backgrounds help keep code fresh and on the ball. Not only have I learned the how of coding, I can provide an viewpoint that has been formed by decades of life experience combined with knowledge and understanding of the why of coding as well.

Software Development Philosophy

I am an out of the box thinker. Your company may say it has a problem it needs fixed. I say it is a challenge for me to deliver on. My solutions to challenges in code are often different and unorthodox. New is not always better, but thinking differently can bring changes of an improved nature to even old ideas. I strive to continually think beyond just the confines of the challenge, while recognizing those confines require creativity to solve the challenge in their framework. When you hire me, you get someone ready to see how its been done - and not afraid to see how it could be done differently, if that different make good sense in some way.

I am a staunch supporter of Test Driven Development, Clean Code, and User First Design - Data drives me, and I want to collect the data to make sure the tools I build are the tools that are needed.

I thrive in an Agile Product Team Environment, striving for a balance of getting it done right and getting it done to release. I seek to build the tools necessary to streamline the process so that Friday Night release isn’t gnawing terror of the potential pitfalls but rather a smooth push of a button and product delivered in time for the weekend cocktails.
