Do not let my small years of experience in the industry fool you. I have been involved in tech since my teens, and as a retrained professional I bring a lifetime of experiences that no twenty-something can match; not to mention maturity and work ethic that is often hard to find in the hot-shots just out of college.
I push for good Test Driven Development procedures in my teams and I encourage my fellow team members to write small, clean code that encourages good habits and provides a solid base for an Agile team. I recognize that these tasks are never done, and the realities of the world can put pressure on deployment. As such, I strive constantly to find the balance between perfect and done.
“I strive to find the balance between perfect and done.”
I thrive in structured environments where there are clear goals but open requirements, using those as incentives to create clean, concise projects. I strive to combat feature creep and budget issues, seeking every day to maximize my working potential. I push constantly to make my workflow more effective, having learned the value finding the most efficient yet quality methods of doing a task. I have been part of the workforce for over twenty-five years and that exposure has given me many lessons that, having already passed those challenges, makes me a strong, dedicated and loyal employee to a good organization.
I have spent my entire career to this point working in Amazon Web Services, in a Microservice architecture. I have been instrumental in redesigning aging legacy systems to bring them into cloud native, API backed and event driven formats. I have architected and directed the design of multiple services, involving the use of AWS services from Lambda’s to Kinesis. I have a working experience in AWS with most major common functionalities, including making use of the Cloud Development Kit to design Infrastructure as Code.
I specialize in the building of DevOps style infrastructure, striving to design the best processes to streamline my teams work, designing automated regression test suites, pipelines involving cloud services from AWS Secrets Manager to Artifactory, and even the automated build and destruction of test environments in the cloud.
I am someone who wants the process to be as efficient as possible for the the team members doing development work. I am a champion of Test Driven Development and automated unit testing. I seek to push away from any system that requires multiple manual steps to set up or deploy, seeking to find the process that most quickly can push a team to the one button deployment for fast, Agile development.
I have continued my education even after leaving Columbus State. I am continuing to pursue a Bachelors and my eventual goal is to pursue a Masters in Computer Science as well. Learning never stops; just like technology. We must be always striving to understand the new, and learn where it is best used (or not used!) in our projects.
I am looking forward to learning more about this career opportunity. There is always something interesting to learn with the next project, and I am always pushing my knowledge base outward to take advantage of it. I expect that the position you are offering can be a great boon for my own growth, and that my background can bring a variety of unique strengths to your team.
