A Slight Break

Fun

With the Three Day weekend just now behind us and the increasing issues facing our world today, I took a break from trying to think of a post to write this past week. Plus, I started my new job so I’ve been concentrating on that.

However, in the world of internet footprints, reliability in your posting schedule is key. So a post will go up. Something simple this week: Pictures of my Lego Workroom! These are taken over a variety of months and in the middle of various projects; I have a lot of Lego and I do so like to share. So, without further preamble…

I use the Akron-Mills storage containers for the vast majority of my collection. The small grey bins up against the boards are Husky Stackable Bins (though I got a much better price on them by shopping in the local stores than buying online). There are of course a ton of shoe crates - get those cheep anywhere and they work out great for big pieces.

Finally, I have long subscribed to the “First Order Retrievability” Rule Adam Savage talks about in his book “Every Tool is a Hammer” and so the labeling was a must. As you can see I am still in the process - If you look closely too you may notice the location of certain parts changes in various pictures. I am always updating my organization to be more efficient to what I need.

I use a Brother P-Touch 750W for making the labels. I started out with a set from BrickArchitect.com but since my collection is fairly ancient (the vast majority of sets are from the late 80’s and early to mid 90’s) there were a lot of blocks I had not in those labels. Fortunately, making your own with Gimp and a little bit of time is rather easy (I may write up a quick tutorial on it later).

For now, I hope all enjoyed the long weekend and with a little bit of child-like wonder from this post are more prepared to face the coming week and months again!
